Coming from a farming background, the normal course would have been to take over the family wine business. However market circumstances, the lack of a wine of any renown and the desire to be creative all year round, not just during the wine-making period, led to us to change our direction.
We believe that the fact that we are self-taught doesn't limit our creativity – even if it sometimes means that solutions don't come easily to us.
Olivier was born in 1977, and in 1989 began a course in classical painting techniques. A born all-rounder, he then tried his hands at cabinet making and then stone sculpture. In 1993 he made a copy of The Astronomer, a painting by Jan Vermeer.
1995 was the year he discovered the forge, and this deferred his school leaving certificate (Science) to 1996. Thereafter he obtained a work-based BTS (vocational training certificate at higher level) in wine making and oenology. He worked on the family farm up until the summer of 2007.
My path has been less artistic, but sharing Olivier's experiences has immersed me into the world of culture and beauty.
I was born in 1983. More pragmatic by nature, I passed my school leaving certificate (Science) in 2001, and qualified from the Avignon School of Management and Commerce in 2004. I then joined my brother in the family wine making business to develop the sale of bottled wine.
My creativity on the estate was restricted to the visual aspects, or to the design of labels. I stopped at the same time as Olivier, in 2007, when together we went on to new things…
